Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and
began conducting research on more specific health
care careers.
At the beginning of the second semester,
these students select two out of three more
in-depth career education programs. The three
options include nurse aid, first responder or
community health worker training. These programs
provide opportunities to learn more about
professions such as nursing, hospital care,
nursing home care, community health public health
and emergency room services. After completing
their two chosen areas of study, students are
encouraged to take the state exams required to
become certified nurses aids or first responders.
Upon successfully completing the two
semesters, students are eligible for six to
eight-week paid internships with hospitals,
nursing homes and other facilities that
participate in the program.
