Because these seizures can
occur at any time, and often in public locations, it is
important that as many people as possible gain some
understanding of the disorder, recognize when someone is
having an epileptic seizure and know how to respond.
SECAHEC recently launched an
epilepsy education program to help achieve this goal. SECAHEC
staff conduct free educational and first aid sessions for
educators, community groups, government employees, youth
groups and other organizations throughout the region. These
presentations include the use of power point presentations and
DVDs that review what epilepsy is and the proper actions to be
taken by people who are nearby.
