In an effort to share this expertise, the school
produces its Mini Med School program each fall. This is a
series of eight, weekly, one-hour presentations on health care
and medical topics that are conducted in front of a live
audience as well as video cameras. The video feed is streamed
via the Internet to other locations throughout the state. A
limited number of people may make reservations to attend the
entire local series at no cost.
The content level of each program is geared to the
general public and has included topics such as anatomy,
physiology, cell biology, microbiology, immunology, pathology,
pharmacology and cancer. The format features presentations by
one or two
speakers selected for their ability to make technical and
medical language and concepts understandable. The program ends
with a question and answer session with questions e-mailed to
the speakers from the outlying locations.
SECAHEC organizes and promotes
attendance at a Mini Med School viewing site located at Pueblo
Community College.
