In
SECAHECs region alone, approximately 200 students each year spend a month in the program observing and learning
from their preceptors. The preceptors themselves may be
eligible for continuing education credits and are also invited
to the annual Colorado AHEC preceptor in Vail CO.
In addition to identifying potential preceptors,
SECAHEC provides housing for students while they are in the
program. SECAHEC maintains a list of screened and available
housing in host homes and in Pueblo and also owns an apartment
building. suitable for six students. Anyone interested in
learning how to become a host home should contact the SECAHEC
for more information on hosting medical students.
The SECAHEC office also services as a liaison for
the students should they need other assistance.
