Colorado, like
the rest of the nation, faces a growing
shortage of health care workers and the situation
is projected to worsen.
Rural parts of the country, such as the 16
counties served by SECAHEC, already have a severe
shortage of physicians and allied
health care professionals. For that
reason the organization conducts many programs to
introduce students of all ages to different
aspects of the field and to encourage them to
pursue a health care career. SECAHEC provides
scholarship programs and other support to assist
them while they are pursuing advanced health care
education.
Other
SECAHEC programs tap into the experience of the
regions current health care leaders as well as
representatives of the public and private sector
to discuss ways to address this talent shortfall.
